Originality and Plagiarism
All submissions must be the original work of the author(s).
Prior publication does not automatically disqualify a submission. However, authors must clearly disclose whether the work, or a substantially similar version of it, has previously appeared elsewhere, including in a school journal, online platform, competition, institutional repository, personal website, or other publication. The Hinksey Review reserves the right to determine whether republication is appropriate.
Plagiarism, including the uncredited use of another person’s ideas, text, data, structure, or analysis, is strictly prohibited. All sources must be appropriately cited. Submissions found to contain plagiarism, misattributed material, or significant unoriginal content may be rejected or retracted.
Authorship and Contributions
All listed authors must have made a meaningful contribution to the work and must approve the final version submitted. Any individuals who contributed but do not meet authorship criteria should be appropriately acknowledged.
Data Integrity and Accuracy
Authors are responsible for the accuracy of their data, analysis, and conclusions. Fabrication, falsification, or misrepresentation of data constitutes a serious breach of academic ethics and will result in rejection or retraction.
Authors should retain sufficient records of their research process, sources, data, and analysis to support the claims made in their submission.
Use of Artificial Intelligence
The Hinksey Review permits the responsible use of AI tools as part of the research and writing process. AI may be used to support tasks such as brainstorming, language refinement, coding assistance, data organisation, or preliminary research exploration.
However, we do not permit the submission of work that has been substantively generated by AI without significant intellectual direction, verification, and transformation by the author.
All submissions must include an AI usage disclosure. Authors must specify which tools were used and in what capacity. Concealment of substantial AI usage is grounds for rejection or disqualification.
The standard we apply is simple: the author must be able to defend every claim, data point, source, method, and argumentative move in the work. If the author cannot explain, verify, or take responsibility for the content, the work does not meet our standard.
Conflicts of Interest
Authors must disclose any financial, personal, institutional, or professional relationships that could reasonably be perceived to influence the research, its interpretation, or its presentation.
Corrections and Retractions
If a significant error, omission, or ethical issue is identified after publication, The Hinksey Review may take appropriate action, including issuing a correction, clarification, expression of concern, or retraction.
Editorial Responsibility
The editorial team is responsible for maintaining a fair and transparent review process. Editorial decisions are based on the quality, originality, relevance, evidence, and seriousness of the submission.
The Hinksey Review does not discriminate on the basis of age, institution, nationality, background, or affiliation. Our standard is the quality of the work itself.
